Jim Benham, president of Benham Builders, has been in the business of designing, renovating and building homes and commercial properties for decades. The Benham Group was first incorporated in the Washington, DC area twenty five years ago. In addition to the building business, Jim owned a large commercial construction firm, performing extensive historic and structural renovation on projects in the Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and Richmond, VA areas. Prior to that, Jim was vice president of construction for a national condominium developer, American Invsco, and prior to that, a cabinet and furniture designer and maker in Chicago. His earliest experience includes much hands-on work in the building trades. He served two years in the Army Engineers and attended Southern Illinois University. Since moving to Charlotte in 1994, Jim has designed and built a select number of very high-quality homes, mostly in the South Charlotte area. Future plans are to expand the custom home business with the help of his son, Jimmy, who will graduate from App State in 2009 with a bachelor of science in construction management.
Jean Benham, vice president of Benham Builders, is the marketing and consulting side of the business. Jean, a well known realtor in Charlotte with The Allen Tate Company, is a perennial winner of top honors in sales throughout the Charlotte area. She is also principal of Jean Benham Realty Group. Jean’s market savvy and design abilities, as well as a bachelor of science in interior design from University of Maryland, add important market knowledge to the home designs.
Jimmy Benham, project manager, is currently finishing up his construction education at Appalachian State. Jimmy has been active in the business since he turned 18, working as a tradesman with masonry and carpentry subcontractors on homes built by Benham Builders. Jimmy recently finished his internship with Benham Builders, and will start full time with the company in 2009. Jimmy will be a welcome full-time addition to the company. |
